Black Classics Drive-In Cinema to Provide Enhanced Food and Beverage Experience with FanFood Mobile Ordering Delivery

Black Classics Drive-in Cinema uses FanFood mobile ordering for concessions

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Black Classics, a drive-in cinema series that showcases independent minority films to audiences throughout Charlotte, has partnered with FanFood, a technology platform that enables mobile concessions ordering, to offer contactless food and drink delivery for movie-goers at all of their pop-up-style events this season.

As the 2021 drive-in season approaches, Black Classics plans to provide guests with a safer, more convenient concessions experience via mobile ordering powered by FanFood. Movie-goers attending any of Black Classics’ events will be able to browse the bodega food and drink menu from their phones, order anytime before or during the event, and pay directly from their device. Staff will deliver customers’ orders right to their designated parking spot. Guests can enjoy more of the film and maintain social distancing by not having to leave their vehicles to request concessions service.

“Events in Charlotte have been scarce this winter, so we want to ensure that our guests have an exceptionally safe way to order their food and drinks as they return to Black Classics events,” said Brian Okoye and Tina Akunwafor, co-founders of Black Classics, LLC. “Online and mobile technologies have surged in popularity over the last few months, and we strive to meet the heightened expectations of all our guests. FanFood is an exciting addition that will enhance the Black Classics cinema series experience for everyone.”

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, cashless transactions and contactless pickups have risen in popularity for minimizing physical interactions. Mobile ordering has also proven to increase the number of orders placed per customer during one single event for the ease of use and speed of service. Black Classics is looking to officially launch FanFood mobile ordering this April for their drive-in’s opening night. The Black Classics team plans to host upwards of 400 cars at its event by the summer.

“We’ve seen the pandemic change consumer behavior, and the new drive-in theater experience is defined by both safety and convenience,” said Laura Aparicio, customer success manager at FanFood. “Black Classics is a fantastic partner for us as drive-in season quickly approaches, and we look forward to working with them and providing their guests with a safe, relaxing movie-going experience.”

Black Classics is an outdoor cinema series serving Charlotte through fun and unique social distance-friendly experiences. The organization emphasizes creating social impact in its community and beyond through the Road to Success program. The initiative provides resources including books, school supplies and technologies to students locally in Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools and abroad in Anambra, Nigeria. With FanFood’s digital checkout, guests will have the extra opportunity to place a donation towards the Road to Success program.
