FanFood Donates Thousands of Meals And Offers Business Relief Package Amidst Coronavirus

CHICAGO, April 6, 2020 — FanFood, a mobile ordering tech company for in-venue food services and restaurants, is donating one meal* for every order placed on the platform during the COVID-19 outbreak. The donated meals will reach families struggling with hunger across the U.S. through FanFood’s partnership with Feeding America®, in an attempt to lessen the impact of this pandemic and contribute to Feeding America’s efforts to end hunger.
School closures and job disruptions have hit low-income families the hardest, leading to overwhelming demands at food banks. FanFood donated nearly 1,300 meals in March to Feeding America member food banks, and is planning to continue the meal donation throughout the shelter in place period.
Per the most recent USDA food security report, more than 37 million people, 11 million of whom are children, face hunger. FanFood joined the 1 Billion Meals Challenge as a member of the Feeding America® Enterprise Society in June 2019, and has donated more than 25,000 meals to Feeding America’s network of 200 food banks since then.
In order to help small businesses that are taking a hit from the pandemic, FanFood also set up a Local Business Relief Package to help restaurants, bars, food trucks and other businesses serve their customers with curbside pickup and no-contact delivery. The package provides $5,000 per business and the free use of FanFood’s mobile ordering platform for two months. Participating businesses will keep 100% of the revenue and tips, and FanFood will donate a portion of its earnings back to the business as well.
“As a startup, we understand the anxiety that small and medium-sized businesses must be feeling,” said Carson Goodale, CEO and co-founder of FanFood. “We’re setting up the Relief Package to do our part in keeping their business running, so that they can get through this time with steady revenue streams.”
Feeding America® has also set up a COVID-19 Response Fund to support communities impacted by the pandemic. People needing assistance can locate the nearest food bank at https://www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank. Businesses can sign up for FanFood’s Local Business Relief Package at https://www.fanfoodapp.com/restaurant.
*$1 helps to provide at least ten meals secured by Feeding America® on behalf of local member food banks.
